Cheryll Ann Corl Atticks

Cheryll Ann Corl Atticks, age 68, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 19, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 25, 1955 to Gene H. Corl and Elsie Corl. Cheryll was the beloved wife of James E. Atticks for 46 years and a loving mother to her daughters Melissa and Valerie. Cheryll took great pride in her grandchildren, Sylvie and Cameron, who affectionately refer to her as Grammy.

Cheryll is survived by her mother, Elsie Corl; her husband, James E. Atticks; her daughters, Melissa Stubenbort and Valerie (Al) DeRiso; grandchildren, Sylvie Stubenbort and Cameron DeRiso; nephew, Stephen (Jessica) Weiss and their children Harrison and Charlotte.

Cheryll was welcomed at the gates of heaven by her father, Gene H. Corl; father-in-law, T. Edward Atticks; mother-in-law, Janet Atticks; sister-in-law, Deborah Atticks; as well as the many others that have gone before her.

After graduating from Gateway Senior High School, Cheryll went on to study mortuary science at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. While in mortuary school, Cheryll met the love of her life, Jim. In 1979, they joined her father’s legacy at Gene H. Corl Funeral Home. Cheryll put her family and everyone in her life before herself. Cheryll will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Cheryll touched are invited to the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL HOME, 4335 Northern Pike, Monroeville, Pennsylvania, from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2024 and 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Monday, May 27, 2024. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church followed by interment at Plum Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
