Jane B. Stradling

Jane B. Stradling, 105, of Lititz, formerly of Akron, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Brethren Village.

She was born in Akron to the late Samuel and Emma (Brubaker) Brubaker and was the wife of the late George Tomlinson Stradling, Jr., who passed away in 2008.

Jane was an active member of Akron Grace Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a 1940 graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. Jane worked as an RN at Ephrata and Lancaster Hospitals and had also worked at Fairmount Homes. She was a former member of the Akron Ladies Club, Ephrata Women’s Club and Akron Cub Scouts Den mother. Jane was an avid golfer and she enjoyed the friendly competition of the game with friends and with her late husband. She also enjoyed the competition and strategies of pinochle, bridge and croquet. For relaxation Jane spent many hours reading and crocheting blankets for friends and family. Most importantly, Jane loved Jesus and she wanted everyone she came in contact with to know that Jesus loves them!

She is survived by a daughter, Georgiana B. Fassnacht of Lebanon; two sons, G. Tomlinson III, husband of Beatrice Tierney Stradling of Washington DC, Scott B. Stradling of Youngsville, NC; seven grandchildren, Robin, Brett, James, Matthew, Maggie, Emma and Ryan; six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Janice (Erb) Stradling; a son-in-law, Daniel C. Fassnacht; three sisters, Miriam, Beulah, Evelyn; four brothers, Harold, John, Russell and Paul.

A viewing will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, from 3 to 4 pm, at the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz, Pike, Lititz. An additional viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 10 to 11 am, at Akron Grace Church, 101 N 7th St., Akron, followed by her funeral service at 11 am, with Pastor Daniel Meyers and Chaplain Dana Statler officiating. Interment will take place in the Mt. Zion Evangelical Cemetery.
